Trinity Bates
Trinity Bates – Family friend of murdered Bundaberg girl Trinity Bates, who lived only streets away from the eight-year-old, has been questioned along with several others by police over the shocking killing.
Queensland police spent yesterday questioning the young man, described by neighbours as “intellectually disabled”, as forensic officers combed his family home.
The man, aged between his late teens and early 20s, is understood to have become part of the investigation after forensic evidence was found by police soon after the young girl’s body was discovered in a storm drain, about 100m away from her family home.
Investigators swooped early yesterday, taking away the man– who was accompanied by his father — for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Maurice Carless yesterday refused to confirm the man was a suspect but said the investigation was progressing and that several people had been questioned.
“We have a number of people that we are talking to . . . we are speaking to a range of people about a range of things and those inquiries will continue,” he told reporters in Bundaberg.
“We are also conducting a post-mortem (examination) at this time. I don’t have the results of that yet and we’re expecting that will yield information which may direct inquiries.”
