The landlord of a house Im going to take on rent is insisting I pay the 5 month deposit in cash and not cheque. He is however, giving me a rental agreement on INR 20/- stamp paper acknowledging the receipt of the deposit amount and that it would be returned on vacating the premises. Would this be enough as a document? Is it common for landlords in Bangalore to issue rental agreements & take the amount in cash?
