iv had this tank about 5 yrs and never once changed the bulb i didn’t know i had 2.
anyway i have recently changed my setup to a community tank and have just added 5 live plants to see how i get on.
my question are —
1) Are plants easy to care for or is it essential that i need fertiliser and all the rest of it?
2) Do i need to change the bulb every 6 month or so?
3) what is the best bulb to get for tropical fish and live plants, i seen bulbs that are blueish and look smart or are they just for marine fish.
currently i have a power glow 40w is this ok for me?

I have a cat that likes to eat plants. She’ll eat my spider plant, she’ll eat pretty much anything plant wise that is in her reach. While making a tasty dish for dinner, I thought she would like some Bok Choy. I fed her some and instantly thought: “Holy hell! What if she’s going to be sick? What have I done!” Please let me know. Thanks!

I have 1 out door cat and care for 10+ others,I went on a 1 week vacation and asked a neighbor to come over once a day fill the food and water bowls then change the towls in the boxes once. Probably less than 10 mins work a day since he lives just across the street. We’re in the same class but not close friends. I said I’d pay him but I don’t know how much. I bought him some chocolates plus 10$? is that cheap 20$? is that too much? I don’t know…
By the way: We’re both 14, and he doesn’t have to do anything else no litter box or anything or plants etc.
hippynanna: GEEZE 1st off he’s gone now, I haven’t payed him yet. 2nd of all we talk but not a whole lot it’s not like i ignore him… He’s just not like a close friend. I am not using him, I asked him if he would offered to pay him for his help, nothing that rude.
