I am interviewing for an inventory taking position with a merchandising firm I’m really interested in. I am happy to do the inventory position, but what I’m really interested in is getting my foot in the door for a merchandising pos. I’m better suited for a merchandising position because I have experience and a B.S. in marketing. How do I handle this? Should I tell them I’m really interested in their company and my passion is merchandising or should I not address this at all?

I am taking a photography class, before i went i thought i would just use my passion for photography as a hobbie but i learned that if you work hard there are a lot of work opportunities that make a great income. I have never actually knew what exactly what i wanted to do before and not have doubts about it. i felt great hearing this that i wanted to exceed in this and put my heart and be all i can be in photography. i know right now i am just a girl with a camera but i know i am going to learn everything there is to know about it. i was so excited to tell my mother about my i decision, because i never had a clue what i wanted to do for my future that i would be happy doing for the rest of my life. well she doesn’t believe that this is possible and totally brought me down. i mean i do not want her to get in my way. she said she would not pay for anything. she wants me to become a teacher or a nurse. but yet she says she only wants me to be happy. i am really determined to follow through with MY decision but i feel like it’s… impossible.
do you have any comment to this. something to prove her wrong. HELP.

see i have a passion for fashion and am currently doing my diploma in fashion as i cannot yet afford to study at degree level! i am in the uk and would like to hear from fashionable business minded people.we all know its not easy cracking into this industry but you have to be willing to start somewhere!just throw any ideas at me that would be useful.
