A Gastrointestinal infection has been spreading throught my family in my house.I cleaned my 3 week old leopard geckos tank for the second time after buying him. The next morning I had a gastrointestinal infection. During and after cleaning his tank I throughly washed my hands. We’ve handled him a lot but usually wash out hands after. Could the infection we got have been salmonella from the gecko? I threw up twice and had diahreah twice with a slight fever, it only lasted for about 1 day. Im scared now to clean my baby geckos tank!!! Im afraid I’ll Get sick again!!
People have told me that It “could” be salmonella but from my explanation does it sound like it?? Is there a good chance its from the gecko, because then I would have to give him away (parents choice to give him away if he was the cause). How much would a vet check cost for him to test the gecko for salmonella or parasites.. because my gecko is perfectly healthy so far, fat tail, poops normal and he eats normal. Hes on paper towels by the way.
