Ok, well, I bought a balloon molly, and I thought the males would always have a very promonent gonopodium, but with this guy, I can't tell if it's a male or a female :/

Going to add photo link in details. Please help me sex this fishie.
I thought it would have a prominent gonopodium like:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ac/PlatyGonopodium.jpg/250px-PlatyGonopodium.jpg

But this one looks to have a female anal fin, but it's colored white on the edge and longer than most females I think.

Heres some pictures of my balloon Molly!
Mine:
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/1918293456/BalloonMolly.png
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/1918293456/molly.png

A more zoomed in picture of 2 of them. The top picture makes me think its a male, the bottom makes me think it's a female. I'm confused. Same fish.

Hi, I have got a 15 gallon tank with 3 male guppies and 4 pygmy puffer fish. It has a air powered filter a heater, light live plants and rocks. Once all the fish in this tank die I am thinking of getting Elder guppies ? I have bred fancie guppies, the 3 males in my tank are fancie guppies all the females are in my 65 gallon tank. How easy are Edler guppies to breed ? What should you feed them ? Do I need a breeder box for the fry ? I used a breeder box for my fancie guppies for 2 weeks should I do this with Edler guppies ? How long do they live for ? How many can I fit happily in a 15 gallon tank ? By the way I feed my 3 fancie guppies and 4 pygmy puffer fish live/frozen blood worms, brine shrimp only live, daphia live/frozen and live snails for the puffers teeth. I want to breed Elder guppies because I head they are endangered in the wild and I would like to keep the strain alive and give the babies to the pet shop for people to buy and breed them to keep them alive :) Do you even think this is a good idea ? Or should I get any other fish that I can breed ? I also have loads of baby brine shrimp, do I feed new borns baby brine shrimp ?

Please Help!

I was preparing the tank of a fish I'm taking care of when its thermometer slipped out of my hand and broke. The package says it contains alcohol and steel shot, so it's not dangerous, but it also says that there is "lead paper". I'm really unsure what to make of this. What exactly is it? Is it safe to just dispose of it in the bin inside? Are there special measures to deal with that? Please, any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Sooooo, i just got a new betta (crown tail), and he has been living at my house for about 30 hours. He is the sole occupant of a betta cube (1/2 gallon or 2L), which i bought as a "Marina Betta Kit". He has eaten a bit, i dont really expect him to eat much in the first days, but food was offered, and a couple flakes are left on the bottom of the cube uneaten... i have prior expirience with fish, as i have a successful 10 gallon tank running with some gouramis, and corydoras catfish.

Ok, now, i have some concerns:

1) I have heard that when bettas are stressed they tend to have horizontal lines on their bodies...mine DOES TOO!!! Should i be consered, or is it a thing for the first few days while he gets accustomed to his new home?(pls explain)

2) He is active...not very, but i know bettas tend to be sluggish at times...he swims around slowly, looks at everything, dips down to snatch some morsel off the gravel...chases his tail...sometimes comes up to the top. And when i come around, he shies away, but then comes out to investigate. Is there ANYTHING in that behavior that may consern you????

3) What would a healthy betta act like?Give me any things that could suggest illness...

4) He is in a 1/2 gallon cube that has some gravel at the bottom, 2 shoots of hornwort plant, and three pebbles. (The kit that i got for him is called the " Marina betta kit", so i am infering that all is right with the size, contents and the fact that there is no filtration, or heating...he is in a well heated room, away from drafts). So, is that all good?

5) Water changes for that small cube tank would be good twice a week or once?

6) I have some bloodworms that i feed to my other fish, should i supplement his diet with those? His normal food say that it contains bloodworm meal...so are the extra bloodworm necessary...or does all betta food contain bloodworm meal?

Thank you very much for any help you can give, TEN POINTS to anyone who can answer the best!!!

My little female betta is getting wider and wider in the belly region. It's strange because she looks pretty normal from the side, but when I view her from above her belly is really wide, while her tail region remains normal size.
I am concerned that this could be dropsy, but she has been this way for a few months. I have fed her small pieces of blanched peas in hopes that she was simply constipated even though it didn't look like any of the constipation I've dealt with before.
Anyway, her scales are not sticking out at all, so I'm not sure if it's dropsy, but I'd like some more opinions, and some advice on what to do with her. She is swimming quite normally and I have really not noticed any changes in her behavior.

Here are a couple of pictures, to show you her shape from above.

My orando goldfish does everything normally but after we clean the tank then put the fish back it starts to swim upside down. We can't afford to go see the vet now (mum bought a diamond ring and dad bought a lounge suit) and we tried going to the pet shop but the treatmeants did not work. My aunt say that it's not swim bladder disorder because it eats and swims normally. Please help me! I love that fish!

I am setting up a long 150g freshwater tank that will be pretty heavily planted. Would love to get discus but I know they are very difficult to keep healthy and prefer bare bottom tanks which I would find very unnatractive. SO are there any similar fish in size and color that would look good in a large heavily planted tank? Most likely another type of cichlid right?
