Open Question: Breaking a neutered male from marking/spraying in the house?

Published on January 13, 2010 by Technology Slice

Ok, I hate using Answers but I am at my Witt’s end with this damn dog and he will be eliminated from my house if we cant get this under control so if you have ANY experience with this I could use ideas. We have 4 pugs, one is 3 I have had her since she was a puppy, last fall we adopted 2 black pugs (older 6 1/2 and 7) and they have adjusted nicely (little old woman and little old man- no dominance or behavior issues with them either. We ended up taking in an unwanted adorable 1 yr old pug male (not neutered) named Bubba. He gets along great with the others, we have 3 kids I work out of my home so I am able to keep an eye on all day and observe. We had him neutered, he stopped humping but he is still perpetually marking on the corner of bed comforters, toilets, shower curtains (anything of that texture) He gets told off (yelled at), physically dealt with(spanked), nose rubbed in it, removed from the area, crated, etc. I have tried ALL combinations of these. And the sad thing is he’s a sweet loving dog but this dominance issue has to stop. How can make him know I am the dominant one in the house and he is not to do urinate on whatever he pleases? I don’t know if this helps but he does it in front of me or behind my back it doesn’t seem to matter if anyone is around or not. If you are going to tell me off because I spank my dog then go away, I’m really trying to work through this so he won’t end up euthanized as most people don’t want dogs that pee all over their house it would be very hard to find him a suitable home.

Open Question: How should I punish my dog!!?

Published on January 13, 2010 by Technology Slice

I had a chocolate cake on the table and I left the room and my dog jumped on the table and ate my cake!!!. I dunno why he would do that he keeps begging for food. Earlier he ate his dog food, and he had a few treats, i wouldnt think he would still be hungry. He’s a cockapoo and 8 years old
plus chocolate is bad for dogs he might be sick later
I don’t want him to get sick, it wasn’t too much chocolate just, the icing was chocolate and it was 1 slice, my parents aren’t home and i can’t take him to the vet

Well I don’t mean punish him but what should i do to make him learn not to do it again?
