I have a cable modem and i want to connect a wireless router to it. What i understand is that i have to connect the cable modem by removing the ethernet cable running from the modem to the back of the computer and connect that cable to the wireless router to the WAN or internet input.
But i want to have the wireless connection for other devices and also the wired connection to the desktop computer, so what i wanted to ask is if the wireless router will have and outlet that will let me connect a ethernet cable from the wireless router to the computer directly?

My friend wants me to play Counter-Strike online with him and my other not-so-good friend, but I had problems with it, so I had to troubleshoot it. So my not-so-good friend kept insisting I give him “Remote Assistance”, to my desktop computer which is where he can move around the mouse and touch things on my computer while he watched.
Well we figured my computer needed updates and stuff, but we where also trying to boost my internet speed, while we’re doing that he access my MAC Adress through my Belkin router, and had the dialogue window showing the Mac Adress with the mouse hovering over it for a little while (over 15seconds) I think he was writing it down.
Can he hack my computer if he knows my IP Address and Mac Address? What exactly can he do, and what can I do to prevent him from doing so without buying a new computer?
