I have a Symbol LS4004 I050 hand held barcode scanner. It came with 2 PS/2 connections, a male to plug into the keyboard plug of a desktop computer, and a female to receive a keyboard so the desktop will still receive regular keyboard input.
I’ve tried using it this way and it worked correctly on my XP desktop computer. I would like to have this barcode scanner work on my laptop (Mac Book Pro running Windows 7 on Boot Camp), which does not have a PS/2 port. I bought a PS/2 to USB converter, but it didn’t work. Windows 7 began installing drivers but they didn’t help. I took the PS/2 to USB converter cable and plugged it back into the desktop (where I knew it had worked before) and the scanner would not scan anymore. There must be something wrong with using the cable to convert to USB. Is there an alternative to using PS/2 to USB on a Mac Book Pro? Or a way I can make the USB cable work?
P.S. The problem does not lie in Boot Camp, please no “run the software on the intended hardware” answers. And Windows 7 on a Mac Book Pro is running like a charm.
