I was in Chicago a while back and was reading a sticker in the back on the cab that said it was illinois law that taxis accept credit cards. It was a couple years ago and I was a little drunk, but im almost positive thats what it said. Well i have never tried to use a credit card to pay for a taxi fare until last night. The cab company was out of Peoria, IL. We got to the destination realized we were short on cash and asked to use a credit card. Cabbie said no and called the cops. Cops escourted us to an ATM then back to my house to make sure i paid. I was pretty pissed cuz of atm fees n the fact i thought it was a law. Does anyone know if it is a state law or maybe just a chicago city law or what? thanks.
