Super Fast Broadband Test
Super Fast Broadband Test – The NSW coastal communities of Minnamurra and Kiama Downs south of Wollongong are among five mainland locations that will get the first taste of high-speed broadband services on offer from the national broadband network.
It will not be the only NSW site. An area of Armidale, which includes the University of New England, has also been chosen by NBN Co as one of the other five geographically and demographically diverse locations that will help it determine how to deliver high-speed broadband to 90 per cent of Australian homes.
“The first release sites will provide critical information about the practical application of our designs, construction methods and technology in the real world,” said NBN Co’s chief executive, Mike Quigley, who emphasised that the sites were chosen based on engineering, rather than political, considerations.
A select group of 2600 residences in the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick will be the only urban residents to be included in the trial, which includes the South Australian town Willunga and parts of Townsville.
