Scott Walker
Scott Walker – Veteran forward Scott Walker of the Carolina Hurricanes is heading to Washington for a Caps seventh round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Walker, 36, has three goals, two assists in 33 games with Carolina. He’s been in the NHL since 1994 and has a career high 25 goals in 2000 and 2003 with Nashville Predators.
The 5’10″, 196-pound forward was born on July 19, 1973 in Cambridge, Ontario and originally played defense but switched roles in the 1996-1997 season.
Walker has 820 career NHL games under his belt and he registered 149 goals, 245 assists and 1,153 penalty minutes. He has played in 29 career Stanley Cup playoff games, registering one goal and seven assists.
Walker was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round, 124th overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut with them in 1994, splitting time between Vancouver and Syracuse. He played three seasons with the Canucks before being left unprotected in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft where he was selected by Nashville.
Walker played seven seasons with the Predators before being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in July 2006. In 2007, he was signed to a three-year contract at $2.5 million per season.
