Red Bull Energy Drink
Energy drinks have flourished in the last couple of years. Red Bull and V are the two most popular. But many people are not aware of the health risks associated with consuming excessive energy drinks. Drinks like Red Bull and V have large amounts of both sugar and caffeine, both of which are bad for your health. Many people have had side effects from the large doses of both sugar and caffeine.
Recently a young woman in New Zealand drank 12-14 Red Bulls a day in order to lose weight. She started drinking Red Bull excessively to supress her appetite and when she started losing weight, continued drinking it. She went from 105kg to 60kg in 6 months. That’s a massive 45kg loss. I am in no way advocating that much weight loss in such a short period of time. Many people gain the weight over several years and then expect to lose it at the drop of a hat. This is detrimental to the body. The reason for her weight loss is the stimulating effect caffeine has on her metabolism. She stopped drinking it when she had a mild heart attack at age 23.

Many young people don’t realise the damage they are doing to their bodies when they drink too many energy drinks. Companies dress them up and advertise them to be something trendy. Many young people have had heart palpitations and countless other side effects.
