P-Plater Blows 19 Times The Limit
P-Plater Blows 19 Times The Limit – P-Plate driver Joanne Grosse has recorded one of the nation’s highest ever blood-alcohol readings.
Her reading was a staggering 0.385 -19 times the legal limit for a P-plate driver.
She was so drunk when she was caught by police that she could barely speak, a court was told yesterday.
Grosse, 21, who is a repeat drink-driving offender, was fined $600 and was banned from driving for 18 months.
ACT Magistrates Court was told that after a night of drinking in Canberra in November, Grosse went home and kept drinking.
Statements tendered to the court stated that at 7.15 the following morning she also downed “a few wines”.
Her boyfriend drove her into the city later that day to pick up her Ford Laser. An hour later, she was found slumped in the driver’s seat of her car on the side of the road, with the front and rear tyres of her car deflated.
“It appeared the vehicle had impacted the left-hand guttering and come to a stop,” police said.
The court was told that a woman who came to Grosse’s aid said her eyes were closed and that she shook Grosse lightly “in an attempt to wake her”.
Grosse awoke and “began mumbling”, police said.
Two other women stopped to help Grosse out of her car. She was taken to hospital with “minor hand injuries”.
