Help cancer patients in the community by eating lunch at Outback Steakhouse.

The Savannah River Cancer Foundation has teamed up with the Southside restaurant to host a fundraising luncheon on Feb. 26. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., and tickets are $15 per person.

Typically, the foundation organizes one large fundraising event, but it has decided to hold a handful of small charitable events this year. A corporate party and raffles are planned for later this year.

“One hundred percent of the money will benefit the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, and the money stays in Aiken, Edgefield and Barnwell counties,” said Foundation member Lee Cheeks. “The money is used to help transport cancer patients to and from treatment and to help with medical costs. It is a great cause. We are just asking people to reach out and help their neighbor.”

The Savannah River Cancer Foundation was established in 2003 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting cancer patients in our community. The foundation’s mission is to provide education, emotional support and economic support to cancer patients.

The foundation operates from monies received through donations and fundraisers.

“I want to mention Outback Steakhouse, too. They have been exceptional at donating their services. Without them, we would not be able to hold our event,” Cheeks said.
