Night Train Bobsled – American Steve Holcomb and his three teammates rode the Night Train bobsled to the top of the 2010 Olympic medal podium on Saturday afternoon in Vancouver, claiming the United States’ first 4-man bobsled gold in 62

Steve Holcomb Pilots the Night Train to Bobsled Gold; Lange Takes Silver years, according to NBC broadcasters.

Holcomb, accompanied by fellow USA1 riders Steve Mesler, Justin Olsen and Curt Tomasevicz, piloted the Night Train bobsled to a final four-run combined time of 3:24.46. The Night Train team posted the fastest time in each of the first three runs, but only the third fastest in the final trip. Despite the end-game slowdown, they still came out .38 second faster than the silver medal sled driven by Germany’s Andre Lange.

The veteran Lange entered the competition, his last Olympics, as a favorite for gold. He won the 4-man bobsled competition at both the 2002 Salt Lake City and 2006 Torino Winter Games, and is also a two-time winner of the two-man event, most recently taking the gold at the Vancouver Games earlier in the week.

The Canadian sled piloted by Lyndon Rush missed out on silver by an infintesimal one one hundredth of a second, but at least had the consolation of coming away with the bronze.
