Mexico vs New Zealand Soccer
Mexico vs New Zealand Soccer – Fans lined up at Rose Bowl ticket offices Tuesday as word spread that it will be Mexico’s World Cup team that takes the field tonight for a friendly soccer match-up with New Zealand.
“We knew it would be a pretty good crowd, but in the past four or five days demand has gone through the roof,” Rose Bowl General Manager Darryl Dunn said Tuesday.
Just 100 days before the World Cup tournament starts in South Africa, 70,000 soccer fans will be in the stadium to watch Mexico, ranked 17th in the world, go up against 79th-ranked New Zealand.

Coach Javier Aguirre (left side in the hat) oversees practice. The Mexican national soccer team works out at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday March 2, 2010 in preparation for a friendly match against New Zealand. “But what got them over the top was when they announced the line-up of players – the same team that will be playing in the World Cup.
“The fans said, `Wow,’ and now we’re expecting 70,000 at the game,” he added.
The stadium is “ready to go” for the World Cup warm-up, Dunn said, and the focus now is on traffic control and encouraging fans to get there early.
