Lockwood Library Gunman
Lockwood Library was evacuated after University Police became aware of a suspicious man that possibly had a gun around 4:30 p.m., according to Joe Brennan, university spokesman and associate vice president for university communications.
UB police cleared the library and are currently searching the building with help from Amherst Police. Night classes and activities were cancelled on North Campus as a precautionary measure.
“There are no reports reports of injuries, and the campus is not in lockdown,” Brennan said.
According to John Curaba, a senior business major, he saw police storm the building from his third floor Student Union office around 4:45 p.m. Students were cleared from the building, but they weren’t sure what was going on.
“Everyone was calm, no one really knew what to think,” Curaba said. “It wasn’t a panic situation at all. It was like maybe someone might have saw something, and then they called the cops.”
