Echelon Building Austin – A small plane crashed into a business tower that houses some federal offices in Austin on Thursday morning, engulfing the entire front half of the seven-story building in flames.
The plane, which according to reports was either a Cherokee Piper or a Cirrus, hit the Echelon Building on Mopac and U.S. 183 around 10 a.m. Two were injured and one person has yet to be accounted for in the search for victims.
Reports now fear that the plane struck the building intentional. Howerver, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security the crash was not terrorist-related.
Then there were reports that the Echelon building had housed the IRS, CIA and FBI. That was wrong. The building housed the IRS.
The Echelon building is located in Austin, Fire smoke is now visible for a mile away reports Austin-Travis County EMS Assistant Director James Shamard. The building is located at 9430 Research Blvd, Austin, Texas.
rumor has it that the crash was due to suicide.
