Darryl Tapp Agrees To Extension

Darryl Tapp Agrees To Extension – Darryl Tapp and Philadelphia have agreed upon a contract extension.

Now, in this era of journalistic transparency, it’s worth noting that ProFootballTalk.com reported the agreement first, and Tapp subsequently said so himself in an interview with Mike Gastineau of KJR 950 AM.

So yes, there’s a deal in place. That’s not too terribly shocking, though. The Eagles gave up a pick and a player to acquire Tapp so it figures that they’d want him locked down for more than just a season.

Now, did Seattle get victimized by the old end-around here, the Eagles getting Tapp under a longer-term deal without giving up the second-round pick that Seattle would have been entitled to if it chose not to match an offer sheet?

That’s not the case at all. Seattle received what it felt was adequate compensation for letting Tapp go. The fact that Tapp and Philadelphia have agreed to an extension shows only that the Eagles were willing to meet Tapp’s price on a long-term contract where the Seahawks had not been.
