Computer Keeps Freezing?
The humble home computer, whether it be a desktop of laptop, has become more than a simple portal to the Internet. Many people use it for many different uses such as editing word documents, playing computer games and uploading their digital photos. It’s no wonder sometimes users experience their computer freezing up on them.
There are many different reasons for a computer freezing. The first, and worst, is a virus has infected your computer and is freezing it or slowing it down. These viruses could have come from anywhere. Most likely from browsing the Internet, but also from putting infected USB drives or CDs into your computer. The way to get rid of the virus is to use anti-virus software. There are many free versions available on the Internet such as AVG. If the virus has gotten into system files there is no way to salvage your operating system. You will have to re-format the hard drive to stop the computer from freezing.
The second reason for a computer freezing is regular maintenance is not done. Many people think they can use a computer for as long as they want constantly adding things to it without it slowing down or freezing occasionally. Thing to do are to de-fragment your hard drive, delete old files from the hard drive you no longer need and to un-install any software you no longer use.
The third reason a computer could freeze up is the software you are trying to run on it is too much for it. Put simply your computer is not powerful enough to do the job. If you have a laptop your choices are limited. The only thing you can really upgrade is the RAM. Upgrading your RAM will speed up your computer and help stop it from freezing but there are other things you can upgrade on a desktop you can’t on a laptop. On a desktop you can upgrade the hard drive, video car, motherboard etc. Upgrading the hardware of your computer will stop your computer from freezing if it doesn’t have the power to run the software you are using.
