Cocaine Side Effects
Cocaine is an addictive drug like heroin, yet many people believe it to be harmless and without side effects. Cocaine has many side effects and ones that can be very harmful.
Cocaine is made from the leaves of the coca plant and is a stimulant on the central nervous system. It is illegal all over the world yet there is a vast underground market for it where shady drug dealers sell it to whoever will buy. It is used primarily as a recreational drug which is why it is much more appealing to the younger market. Crack cocaine is a much cheaper version and is sold to poorer markets. It can be taken orally, smoked or snorted. Snorting is the most common.
Side effects of cocaine include euphoria, increased blood pressure, restlessness and paranoia. But many users take it for the “buzz” they get when they go out and the amplification of sexual interest and pleasure. What they don’t realize is cocaine is addictive. Once the cocaine in their body is metabolized, or they come down, the brain craves the stimulation again.
Cocaine side effects impact greatly on the lives of users. They can fall into depression when they do not have cocaine in their system, have anxiety and a fever. The reason users take cocaine so lightly is the withdrawal systems aren’t physically dangerous.
Cocaine, like any other drug, causes damage to the body and mind and more must be done to restrict it’s use.
