Census, 10 Required Questions – Did you get your US Census Bureau forms in the mail yet? TV and radio ads, Facebook, Flickr, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube videos are encouraging you to answer 10 questions in 10 minutes. Census questionnaire envelopes are stamped “U.S. Census Form Enclosed/Your Response is Required by Law.”

According to the Providence Journal, “The census questionnaire envelopes are stamped with “U.S. Census Form Enclosed/Your Response is Required by Law. This is the official form for all the people at this address. It is quick and easy, and your answers are protected by law.”

Failure to comply and send the forms back could be met with a fine of up to $5,000. That’s when the Census Bureau sends a post card reminder.

If that doesn’t elicit a response, a Census Bureau worker can legally come to visit up to three times, hanging their phone number from your door to schedule a visit.

2010 Census Forms: 10 Questions, 10 Minutes

The Census Bureau assures filling out the 2010 census forms is quick and easy, confidential, and one of the shortest forms in census taking history.

The 10 questions include name, age, race, sex, date of birth, Hispanic origin, household relationship and if you own or rent. There are no questions asking for your Social Security number or your legal status.

One person should fill out the form for everyone living in the household –– children included –– and mail it back in the pre-paid envelope as soon as possible. “Census Day” –– and April Fool’s Day –– is April 1, 2010, so the forms should be mailed back by then at the latest.
