Blu Ray Discs and Players
Blu ray is the latest fad to hit the shelves. It wasn’t too long ago dual layer DVD’s were all the rage. But does anyone actually use Blu Ray? Does anyone besides die hard PS3 fans even have Blu Ray players? I think not.
This is apparent when you take a trip down to the local Blockbuster. There are walls and walls of DVD’s to rent but only one little shelf for the Blu Ray selections. This is due to the hefty price that comes with these new Blu Ray players.
Currently the price is still hovering around $500. Once the prices come down the popularity will come up, but not all the way up. The main selling point of Blu Ray products is the high quality picture. This is because of the large amount of storage space one disk has. Many people do not have a television that will provide a noticeable difference between DVD and Blu Ray. The picture resolution is simply not enough.
So buying a Blu Ray player not only means forking out cash for an expensive player. It also means forking out cash for an expensive, high resolution television to be able to enjoy it.
